As years pass internet marketers make predictions about what SEO technology will shape internet marketing and vice versa. The constant evolution of the internet paves the way for new opportunities and gaps that did not exist the previous year. For example, social media took the trend in 2009 at a time when people think that development in SEO has slowed down. If anything, social media sites has taught us that there will always be premium for fresh perspective.

Surely, any big internet element added will affect the future of SEO, search engines, and how internet marketers do their business. Here are some of the things that you can look forward to for SEO technology in the year 2010:

Google Search – It deserves to be the first on the list because Google, over the past few years, have revolutionized the way we use search engines. Surely Google has more up on its sleeves in terms of refining the search engine interface. We already saw real-time search, integration of Adsense in mobile space, and better tools for SEO professionals. We are excited to see converging tools to aid SEO and internet marketers with the expectation of more market penetration for Google.

Social Networking Sites – Yes we have seen a lot of strategies and techniques that claim to be Social networking SEO-friendly. But we haven’t seen the last of it. In fact social networking sites being used for SEO campaigns is still in its infancy. This year we will be seeing a lot of new ideas and techniques that is purely attuned to social media.

Twitter – Twitter will start taking in revenue for their part in SEO campaigns. Who know how they will set it up? It could be through business accounts or premium services. The last quarter of 2009 saw Google and Bing reaching separate agreements with Twitter to incorporate individual Twitter user’s tweets in their search engine results. This is a sign of good things to come for Twitter.

Google Social Search – Last October 2009 Google did an experiment about helping you find readily available web content from within your social networking circle. This enables you to pull up relevant information not only from official websites and blogs, but also from your list of social circle that you have chosen in your Google profile, such as Google Chat Buddies and Google Reader. We will see more of Google Social search and how it will revolutionize SEO technology.

Behavioural Marketing – This year behavioural marketing will be used more often by companies and individual internet marketers. This method will somehow dictate the course of SEO technology in the months to come. Some may have been already using this tactic last year, but this year many ads will be incorporating behavioural targeting more.

These are just a few of the paradigms for 2010, but these factors will eventually change the way how we look at SEO after a year.
