What is White Hat SEO?

White Hat SEO, Black Hat SEO, and Grey Hat SEO are search marketing concepts that give many webmasters and SEO professionals a lot of thought. Part of the reason is there are opposing ideas that provide a set of dilemma for any webmaster wanting to rank to increase traffic. For one, many acknowledge that White HAT SEO is the only way to do SEO. If you want to play in the SEO game, you have to play fair. On the other hand, search engine optimization is by all means a cutthroat reality. You won’t get the desired listing if you are not aggressive - and who is to say that your SEO tactics are fair or not?

All conjectures about White Hat SEO, valid or not, are hotly debated. All these aside, many will agree on the point that White Hat SEO is simply a practice of the fundamentals of SEO.

This is where some SEO companies miss the point. Many SEO companies offer ‘instant results’ and ‘quick rankings’. These promises often attract clients. But in order to deliver with their promise, they employ tactics designed to cut their way through the line to get top rankings.  This results into short-term but unsustainable results. On the other hand, White Hat SEO is the rock where your website is built upon. If we pitch our websites on mud, then we just bought a ticket for long-term failure.

White Hat SEO and its emphasis on fundamentals also trump other SEO tactics in online reputation management. Clients who want to establish an online presence should depend on SEO companies with a legitimate track record. SEO companies in turn should be able to explain their methods in ways that the client can fully understand. Hiring an SEO company is like giving the keys to someone to shape your online image. Giving the keys to the wrong person can be very risky since you do not know at what extent they are willing to deliver the results that they promise. You do not want your business to be known as the source of spam, do you?

White Hat SEO is a long-term process, starting with building the websites with on-page SEO principles, creating engaging content that visitors will want to read, and building legitimate links because readers want to share what they found in your website. If you want to build your online presence and stick for the long haul, get highly targeted traffic, and see gradual improvements in traffic without getting into unnecessary risks, then you should turn to companies that understand what the fundamentals for SEO success are.
