AND WE’RE ON AIR…LT SEO goes Live…
By Zoey on Thursday, April 16th, 2009 at 12:12 pmWe’ve been really excited to start our company blog and share our experience and knowledge in the Search Engine Optimization industry. Said to exceed marketing giants like yellow pages and Sensis, SEO is set to be the new major marketing trend appealing to businesses all over the globe. The hype that surrounds SEO has mainly been among us internet geeks/ marketing wizards, who all understand the value; however, from the perspective of a business owner whose sole focus has been on traditional marketing mediums, the vision of the internet is still blurry and not quite clear. This blog is aimed at understanding and giving you a downright, gibberish free rundown on SEO, what the hell it is, why it’s good for your business and whatever else we can throw into the mix – in the most interesting way possible of course.
The last few weeks we’ve been recruiting our new SEO consultants and have been quite surprised with the amount of knowledge people have of SEO. We had one lady come in for an interview who was currently working for Sensis and was very successful in the business. Being nosey as you would, we were curious about how much she was earning there, “double what you’re offering” she said. At first you would think “what the hell are you doing lady?” But this woman knew what she was talking about, “Once people know what SEO is and understand the value of it, businesses are going to be bidding for a first page rank on Google, and I’d like the commission in that” – we agreed.
It’s been hard to try and explain to people what the importance is with having a first page ranking on Google and we can understand their hesitance to invest in such an intangible and unfamiliar product. Sometimes it results in a serious case of hair pulling, our own hair that is, but we want them to see the value because in the next year or two positions on Google are going to be extremely competitive and it’s going to be so much harder to rank on page one, not to mention a lot more expensive. So that’s why we’re urging businesses to start their SEO campaign now, sooner than later.
For those of you who don’t understand what SEO is, let me put it into terms that you might understand – If you could go to a trade fair and have 30,000 people coming to see your product or service, would you go to that trade fair every single month? My answer would be absolutely and that’s exactly how SEO works, it puts your product or service in front of consumers or business owners who are looking for what you’re offering at the exact time that they’re looking for it.
I’d wager a bet that there is no other more powerful and more importantly measureable marketing medium available like SEO. The difference is you’re paying a fraction of the cost compared to standard marketing mediums – but it won’t last.
